Asher Lowe, rock god, notorious womanizer and rebellious son of ruthless billionaire Sterling Lowe, has spent two decades building Spade into the most successful rock band of the era and living down to his father's expectations. His antics on and off stage are the stuff of fantasy and legend. Fiercely independent Maddy Anderson doesn't back down from a challenge, even when it hurts. She's spent ten years dealing with chronic illness and is succeeding on her own terms, just a semester away from finishing her degree and starting her lifelong dream of a career in education. When tragedy strikes, Asher's life is torn apart. He hires Maddy to care for his dead sister's child, and discovers he has a lot to learn about love and commitment. She makes him want to be the kind of man who can care for them both. But can this rock star make the leap from sexy front man to family man or will their bright future be sacrificed to the past?

Asher the rock star met the independent but sick Maddy, on a plane when she comforts his dead sister's daughter. This was a great story , a slow build up of romance, and love and the love of a child that soon brings everyone together. I really enjoyed that Rachel Cross didn't make Maddy out to be perfect. She was flawed, sick , not 100% and that is what made the story more real and made me love it even more.  It has lots of twist and turns , and a few crazy relatives in the mix also. And just when you thought OK , happy ever after it all comes down. And they once again must pick up the pieces and start rebuilding. This was a real romance for the times. You wanted to cry , laugh , smack some of the characters and yell at the others. It had a great love to it and not all sex. Don't get me wrong there was some hot sexy , but it wasn't ALL about it. And I personally miss that in some of the books now. But my faith has been restored thanks to Rachel Cross . Great book , great characters, and wonderful plots and twist and turns.
